netcheck

A quiet diagnostic tool for home networks.

It runs the checks a patient network engineer would, then tells you in plain English what's wrong and what to do about it, with the most serious problem first.

One verdict, most serious first

The doctor runs every check that matters in parallel, the speed test last and alone, then ends with what to fix.

Normal modeHome networks
Doctor, speed, ping, watch, DNS, devices, route, Wi-Fi and ports, in plain English.
Advanced modeSysadmins
DNS, TLS, HTTP, routing, firewall and LAN tools. Every one ends in a verdict and speaks JSON.

Same full-screen menu for both. Tab switches; the choice is remembered.

Before you download

A report for your ISP

Leave the monitor running for a few days, then send one file: plain-English findings, the numbers behind them, and outages with timestamps.

Contains your public IP. No Wi-Fi names, passwords or device lists.

Platform notes

Windows — Wi-Fi details need Location on. Installer — not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: More info, then Run anyway. Linux — ping sockets or TCP; DHCP needs root.

Privacy

No telemetry, no accounts. Every probe has a timeout; Ctrl-C always stops cleanly. Updates are verified against SHA256SUMS.
